About
Markero is an independent end-to-end encrypted messaging service. The web and Android clients are built around one constraint: the server should not be able to read messages.
Most messengers begin with a phone number or an email address. That creates an identity link before the first message is sent, and it is often stored, verified or reused for account recovery. Markero starts with a username and a password, encrypts messages on the device, and keeps the readable content out of the server.
The service is designed for people who need private communication without handing over a phone number: journalists and their sources, human-rights defenders, researchers, and anyone who does not want a social graph attached to a messaging account.
The core messenger is free. Optional Premium subscriptions fund the service. Markero does not run advertising, build behavioural profiles, sell personal data, or use message content to train machine-learning models.
Markero is based in Lithuania and runs on infrastructure in the European Union. The operating company is being registered in Lithuania; registration details will be published on the Legal page when available.
